Quality citronella jar candles

Set of 4 Citronella Candle: $21.99 at the time of reviewIt’s summertime again and that means a lot more time outdoors and a lot more mosquitos to deal with. We’ve used citronella candles in the past and had reasonably good results (with enough candles). When I saw this jar set I was hoping they’d be a nice addition to our back deck festivities. Read on to find out why they are a winner in my book. The packaging for these candles is a plain cardboard box with fitted foam padding inside to protect the glass jars. They all arrived in good condition, and barring any crazy shipping accidents, I think they’d be fine. The candles themselves are a nice quality. Their brown glass jars and labels look nice on our tables outside. The screw-on lids are really a nice addition, as they can keep debris out of the candle when we’re not using them. The citronella smell is fairly strong with these too. We lit two at opposite ends of a small (5’) table and they seemed to keep the pesky bugs at bay. We haven’t burned through a whole candle yet, but I’d believe the claimed 45-50 hour burn time. The pricing on these candles seems to be right in line with others. At about $4.50/candle I think it’s fair.------------*The Good*: Attractive jar candles with nice lids. Reasonable price. Pleasant but effective citronella scent.*The Bad*: Nothing, really.*The Bottom Line:* I’m pretty happy with these candles. They smell decent, the price is right, and a 4-count set should last most of the summer. Five stars out of five for good performance at a fair price.

Pros
  • Hard to say if they keep mosquitos away, but these are pretty candles and seem like a great value.
Cons
  • Not fragrant enough
