If tapped lightly to pop the crystals out, it works for about a second until the new crystals block the millstones again. It's a shame, for the money I wanted more reliability. - Requires six AAA batteries to operate. Keep this in mind because these are additional "maintenance" costs. I will not say that they sit down quickly - a month or two, depending on the frequency of use.
