Bought one for my husband who is an apprentice welder/plumbing apprentice and one for myself as I am enrolling in plumbing training and want to keep our fingers intact (can't believe my husband wore a metal wedding ring for so many years). My husband's trendy gold engagement ring is a size 10 and we bought him a size 10 black Kauai ring which is true to size. That means it's a little awkward to put on, but very comfortable once in place. I have size 5.5 engagement rings so I tried the size 5 brown Kauai ring which fits perfectly. Interesting. I am amazed at how comfortable this ring is and I no longer agonize over the thought of leaving my favorite engagement rings at home; It's really fun to wear this Kauai ring. My friend even thought it was a wooden ring! Note: When I ordered a brown size 5, I received a brown size 8 (the outside of the box said "5" but the inside of the ring said "8"). I contacted the company - the guy was very nice and polite - and 2 days later my size 5 ring was at my door. Only 4 days from the date of my original order! I was/am impressed. I don't think I need to wait until I've put this ring through the rigors of super hard work before commenting on its performance, although my husband has used it for a couple of 50+ hour work weeks. plus fiddling around in the garage on the weekends, which was great. It's meant to break, don't take the glove off your finger if the person gets into a bad situation, so silicone compound, so it shouldn't be dynamite resistant. The metal ring is expensive and durable; the silicone ring can be replaced at low cost and is used to save the irreplaceable finger.
