
I think this only works with USB 3.0 or higher cables. I have 2 USB 2.0 and a case and it doesn't work with them at all. Luckily I bought a StarTech USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA III hard drive adapter cable at the same time and it works great with it. - Note that ALL hard drives can fail. And when they fail, they typically fail within the first 6 to 9 months of regular use. drives (actually, you should be doing this all the time anyway). Or so. BUT remember, anything can happen. For me automatically. I installed it on my laptop and plugged in a recovery USB stick. Toshiba instructions. It took a while, but not too long (we're obviously talking about 13GB for Windows 7 from a USB 2.0 stick). And I'm back to the new "Out of the Box" except for the ridiculously large drive. .LOL Old drives A 300GB. I don't know about the guarantees or fakes some of the reviews say, but mine has a green tag and was sealed in a new anti-static bag.
