I'm an IT admin and this along with a decent clamp meter is great for efficient circuit stress calculations for voltage regulators and UPSs. The internal 10x loop is great for meters that draw little current, such as B. Switches, POE injectors and certain AV devices. I get the same readings from this unit on a 1x loop as I get directly from the outlet wiring; The 10x loop seems to be slightly higher than the 10x. I'm not sure if it's a mismatch in my clamp meter (I have a $75 Southwire clamp meter) or the device. For example, I have an AC fan in my office that measures 0.36A on the outlet, 0.37A on the 1x circuit, and 3.98A on the 10x circuit. The robust housing is fastened with four screws. The plug fits snugly into the socket. The power outlet on this unit also seems reliable. I don't use it very long, but (just as an example) I can connect a 12V 2A DC power supply to it and then to the wall without support and everything stays connected. I know many electricians have made their own split wire current tester and it's not difficult. The devices I test are always less than 15 amps, so this seems like a more compact and sophisticated way to take a reading without taking apart the outlet or switch box.
