Review on Drill America DEWEZS1 5 Qualtech Extractor by Michael Robinson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great toolkit product

Bought this for my husband. Here are his thoughts: I appreciate really well made tools that can cover my butt when things go wrong. Some extractors I've used for years don't cut in and don't work. They just round up, leaving you with more work to do. These pullers pierce well and are soft enough not to snap off, yet strong enough to withstand a good hammer blow to sink them into the workpiece. Extractor basics for those of you who are new. : The screw head is broken off or the hexagonal corners are rounded. You will pre-drill a pilot hole in the center of the screw. Choose the right extractor. Obviously you will not use the smallest for an inch diameter screw. The puller will not be able to handle the torque to successfully remove the screw. You want at least 1/3 of the spiral groove to be built into the pre-drilled hole. Hit it with a hammer to put it to good use and start digging as you go. Also, the vibration from the impact usually jars the bolt and helps loosen whatever's even stuck in there, like rust. Attach a faucet handle (or at least a vise) to the square bar. Apply good, even downward and counterclockwise pressure to remove the damaged screw. Sometimes it may be necessary to heat or spray rust remover.
