It's getting too hot. 50°C is an unsafe temperature for an iPhone!
When charging a bare iPhone 12 pro max, the charging puck reached 50 °C (measured with an infrared temperature sensor). This is significantly higher than Apple's operating temperature of 35°C and even higher than Apple's maximum non-working (storage) temperature for an iPhone (45°C). After contacting the seller, he offered to refund or exchange the washing machine. Considering the good customer service and assuming the product is usually good but I happen to get a bad one, the rating is 4/5.
