Amazing welds, a small powerhouse

I was skeptical about buying this welder because of its low price. I've been looking for welders for a few small projects for several months. I kept tossing between Miller and Lincoln, but I couldn't figure out how they justified the prices. But I needed something right away, the next day thanks to Revain the welder and the pole on my porch. First I fixed my trailer by burning off a few pounds of 6013 rod at full amperage by welding a 1/4" conduit to a 3/8" pipe. The shot is light, it flowed so well I was even proud of the welds. I then went out and spent 5 hours welding the structure to a 50ft x 13ft extension of my barn. I've already assembled everything with my Hobart Mig. But the seams suck. High strength flux cored wire cannot bond anything but metal. I started with a 6011 rod at 16ga. Square tubes, trusses and beams. I set the amps from 55, 75, 100, 130. The arc was fast but the rod just didn't flow like the 6013. It was so hot it could burn through the shavings. If I ran with too little current, the rod would get stuck. After losing a few pounds I settled on a 6013. I set the amps to 90 and the thing ran like clockwork. The welds were solid, the rod melted evenly, the arc strike was fantastically easy, and let me tell you, this little gem is a real welding monster. Best of all, it weighs nothing and runs on 110 volts. I cut my teeth on a 220 volt Lincoln that takes a fortune in wires. The problem with Lincoln is that the welder is now over $300 and I'm not sure how they justify that price for a 40 year old technology. The cords to the car are longer than my moment so you can easily reach 8ft. I ended up attaching it to my ladder and just ran up and down the structure. My welds were horizontal, vertical and reversed on all galvanized metals. All bad welds were blamed on the welder, not the welder. Best tool purchase I've made in years. I'm just amazed at how well this welder works.

Pros
  • β˜… Leading control mode: feedback control, stable output voltage, strong adaptability to the power grid
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
