Runs like a champ on 1/8" 7018. Haven't tried 120 volts yet. Works very well on 240. Definitely upgrade the stock ground clamp.

This is a great little welder at an affordable price. But at first I thought it was a piece of junk, I first tried welding it when I was at my cousins house and it kept getting stuck, even at 160 amps. I used 6011 rods. But when I went to my house it worked like a charm at 65 amps with 6011. I think you should make sure your outlets are rated properly before blaming the welders.

I ordered this unit brand new with 4 year warranty from Asurion and am confident I received a returned or used product. The block is scratched and worn in several places, the electrode holder looks used, there is a crack inside, there are shoe marks on the cables, dirt and debris on the connectors. I didn't pay for this, I refuse to even try the device in this condition. Massively unimpressed.

Let me start by saying if you're looking for a cheap, lightweight welder for basic stick welding, you've come to the right place. It's small enough to put in a backpack. The machine ran 3/32 7018 right out of the box with no problems. 5/32 definitely moves it forward by 110. I'm sure a 220 connector would be much better than a larger wire. The tip (electrode holder) is quite small and probably very cheap, but it works. Otherwise I can say that this is a good car for little money.

For a tiny inverter welder this thing works amazingly well at only 110v with a dirty crowbar angle and in my opinion it worked surprisingly well. I use 1/8 and 5/32 7018s at work so it took me a while to get used to the swing of the full size 3/32 rod but aside from my personal flaws this thing worked great! I just welded about 300 feet of 1/8" 6011 bar, 220 volts at 90 amps in a dusty environment with 150 feet of 8/3 wire running straight from the fuse box. After returning 2 other brands that arrived at DOA I decided to try these even though there is only 110v in the US. 110v was not good.
