I spent probably a year looking at different kettles before settling on this one due to the built in digital thermometer and temperature flexibility. I wanted to try different teas again as a hobby, especially yerba mate which requires a low temperature. Most competitors have limited ability to change the temperature and expose the plastic to boiling water and/or steam. Always with an old kettle on the stove, I didn't want to risk getting a new plastic taste or contamination in or around hot drinks, or they would become brittle and break after a few years like all plastic does after repeated heating and cooling. accurate and tested with a new kitchen thermometer to within a few degrees. Looks pretty waterproof even though I've only sprayed it a couple of times. I really like that I have the ability to set custom temperatures by degree as it allows me to experiment with different brewing temperatures. This is the only model I've seen that has this feature in addition to multiple preset temperatures. Very happy with it. It has helped me a lot in my transition from drinking mainly soda to coffee and tea.
