I was planning to use this flash with other wireless slave units. The first surprise was when I opened the box and saw that it came with a fabric type diffuser. The description says E-TTL. So it should either work on my Canon 5D or be connected as a wireless slave with the output controlled manually. I first installed it on a slave radio and it just burned and didn't respond to radio controlled manual adjustments, no matter what I did it was always hot. I hooked up the 430EX to make sure everything was working before concluding that something was wrong. Then I installed it on my 5D and it was very difficult to put the hot shoe on. Significant rotation was required to light up the display (TTL). However, it will only burn hot. Thing was a beast to slip off the hot shoe again. And yes, my 430EX performed brilliantly on camera. The error card got stuck and did not return after several tests. The packaging clearly states that it is E-TTL. However Flash says it's TTL and not E-TTL so I can only assume it's not E-TTL and that explains why it's not working for me. Sent back 1/2 hour after receipt. The big question is, did I get a DOA E-TTL block or is it really just TTL? This flash is cheap. It's everything you can expect at this price point. I would keep it if it works properly. If you decide to buy it and it works properly, you can expect decent colors and pretty good refresh times. You can also expect a full head tilt and turn to wonder how long it will last. Unfortunately I didn't have enough reviews to base my purchase on, so at this price point it was worth a try. If anyone has experience using this with a Pocketwizard AC3 or any other brand and had success I'd like to know. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing he did was fire with a schizophrenic personality. Not even enough for backups.
