Review on 🍞 TQVAI Bamboo Bread Slicer Guide with Crumb Tray: Perfect for Homemade Bread, Cakes, Bagels, and More! by Gabriel Day

A handy tool if your loaf is less than 5 1/2 inches wide; You need to halve or cut large loaves of bread.

If you bake sourdough, you know how awkward it can be to cut those irregularly shaped, crispy loaves. This is a really handy tool for this, with the caveat that your loaves of bread can't be more than 5 1/2 inches wide or they'll have to be cut in half and placed cut-side down. If you are baking in a round grill, your loaves will most likely exceed the maximum width of this cutter. However, you can cut a wide loaf in half, place it cut-side down, and then use a slicer to get nice, even slices for sandwiches. For me, the ideal sandwich size with this tool is an oval double portion, baked in a large oval Dutch oven, then cut in half and placed cut-side down. You can also cut a small slice from the side of any suitable sized loaf, including round ones, then place cut side down as well and slice from there. So you have almost full-size slices for sandwiches. With this technique, the bread can extend far beyond the slicing guide, but the problem with slicing is usually not starting to cut the slice, but keeping it even throughout. So once you've cut the first few inches you can just line it up with the guide and move on. It easily disassembles for more compact storage, but I just leave it in the bin with my bannetons. why does it come with a service.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Price piggy bank
