Review on Kingston A400 240GB SATA SA400S37/240G solid state drive by Micha ochowski ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

One of the best deals, glad I bought this.

By coincidence, I switched from the 120Gb A-Data SP580 to the aforementioned Kingston. That serves as the OS disk that I use. Given how swiftly and effectively everything functioned, I could not tell the difference at all. In addition, I forced AHCI mode to be on and forced indexing to be off in the BIOS and OS. The read and write speeds will be roughly two times slower if this is not done.

Pros
  • - cost - guarantee (3 years) - disk speed; - weight; - absence of worry about unintentional shaking (unlike HDD); - existence of error correction mechanism 36-month warranty on SmartECC and LDPC ECC 80 terabytes is the greatest amount of recorded data. - complete backwards compatibility with SATAII - write speed (per my measurements) is about 27% faster than what the manufacturer claims. The mode of all measurement data is AHCI.
Cons
  • - TLC NAND cells, not 3D (thus the cost); - reading speed (based on my tests) is about 11% less than what the company claims. The mode of all measurement data is AHCI.
