Review on RoadPro RPBH-012: Premium 12V Beverage Heater for On-The-Go Heating, Black by Quinton Martinez

It works but the picture doesn't match what I received.

If you were hoping for the metal bracket shown in the picture, forget it. I paid twice as much as other cheaper heaters thinking the metal clip would allow me to bend it a bit to accommodate a thicker walled cup. Unfortunately it has the same plastic clip as all the others and also no clear plastic piece on top of the element to protect your mug. I love my Roadpro Oven so I thought I could be sure I would get what is shown in the picture. Well, now I know, and whoever is reading this knows it too. In Numbers: Heated 8 oz. Heat a cup of room temperature tap water to 140F in about 5 minutes. My Jackery power station's display indicated that it was drawing a steady 138 watts. Both the fork and the grip only felt warm, not hot. Probably because it didn't last long, or maybe because the Jackery output stays pretty close to 12V. But I only heat water for instant coffee, and 140 degrees is enough for me. hp Just to test, I tried this heater with another cheaper battery with 12V DC output and the heater didn't work. . The red light on the immersion heater flashed briefly and then went off when I plugged it in. I knew the heater was good because it worked great with the jackety. I connected a voltmeter to the battery's DC jack and noticed that the DC adapter is outputting 16V instead of 12V. I assume that this heater has some protection if it detects a higher voltage. Good. Therefore, check the output voltage of your power supply if this heater does not work.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...
