I have used this item on several long trips to charge batteries as well as to charge the batteries directly on various cameras. A commercial photographer and videographer has many batteries to charge. Honestly, I was hoping for at least half the charge time I get from your standard 2.1 amp wall charger at home. I was pleasantly surprised that the devices charge faster. Since there have only been a few long rides (a week or more), I can't say if this will affect the battery life, but my Android phone has been directly charged a few times with some oddities or battery life decreasing. It's incredibly small and the dimensions matched the placement. The only downside I noticed was that these are inflexible solar cells and will absolutely rupture under stress. I strapped it to the back of my pack for a hike but felt like it would tear if I spilled something. Charging in the blazing sun at camp kept up with constant use of DSLR camera gear, GPS gear and professional grade batteries throughout the day. If it cracks/breaks I would still buy another one. I haven't tested it for waterproofing, but visually it has all the plugs and seals one could wish for. Very good solution for remote loading!
