Linksys finally got it right

I am a heavy user of Linksys products mainly because they are more readily available in this part of the country. I've had simple experiences installing routers, USB adapters, and network cards for myself and others. However, Linksys accessories have always been a hassle to install and set up, and sometimes didn't even work properly (see Wireless Game Adapters). However, with this product, they finally got it right. While the included installation guide was typical Linksys - not detailed enough and somewhat incomplete - the basic essentials of the installation could be worked through. It was far less tiring than other Linksys accessories I've dabbled with, and it worked right out of the box. I needed a little help from live online technical support to get it to initially recognize my printer, but that was only because the printed instructions didn't provide enough help for the task. (By the way, I would recommend online phone support any day.) Once the product was installed, it worked flawlessly. If it seems slow at first, make sure you give it all necessary permissions through firewall etc. I have Trend Micro PC-Cillin Internet Security and for about an hour the server printed very slowly. However, once the wireless discovery section of the firewall was found on the server and I set it to "trusted" status, it worked like clockwork. It is perfectly compatible with all the functions of my HP PSC 1400 and is just as fast and reliable. just as if my laptop were directly connected to the printer. The only thing stopping me from giving the product five stars is Linksys' usual poor printed instructions. The product itself is great and not as difficult to set up and use as other accessories. Those of us with wired multifunction printers can rest easy knowing we finally have a working wireless print, scan and copy solution. .
