This is excellent quality material but I am concerned about these nicks. The height of the spikes is so low that it almost feels smooth when you run your finger back and forth over them. I would be wary of using it in most applications. You would need to have a lot of confidence in your hose clamps and even then you might not be comfortable with this fitting. Note: I have found that the wall thickness is slightly greater on the larger side of the gear. I'm assuming they can do it in a way that makes the hole easier to make, so maybe that's ok, I don't know.
