Love GPS, hate keyboard

Device works well. I have ridden it on several trips and had no problems with it. I even downloaded Basecamp for the long and difficult distance we had to cover in the race I sponsored. I loaded my route onto a map, sent the file to the GPS and it worked fine, although it took me a google search to find the route. It's apps, then trip manager, then downloading saved itineraries. I save myself Google Fu. It pairs perfectly with my phone so I can easily send directions from my Android using Google Maps. It also notifies you of incoming text messages or other on-screen notifications, although you can turn this off if you don't want to. I like that when streaming music from my phone to the headset, even if I'm not using GPS for music, the next song's title appears briefly at the bottom of the screen for about 1-2 seconds and then disappears. The minus that I saw on this device is the internal keyboard. I absolutely HATE the internal keyboard. Instead of a smaller QWERTZ style, it's divided into two screens. Half of the keys are on the left side, then you have to press the right arrow to see the right half of the keyboard, and then another key will take you to the numbers. Typing names just sucks. Luckily I can do and send this from my phone, but I would be MUCH happier if it had the option to choose between this keyboard and the regular Garmin elevation layout that my other GPS units use. It comes with a wiring harness for connection. Weatherproof bike shell and handlebar ball and clip. If you are familiar with connecting to a battery, this will not cause you any problems. It contained quite a long wire and red and black round connector rings that just fitted into my battery contacts. Installation took 15 minutes, of which I spent 10 getting the power cord properly routed through the mount body. It's not very intuitive, but after you get it wrong once, you'll figure it out the second time with no problem. So far I'm very impressed with the device but they need to fix that hell of a keyboard layout!

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
