Review on Crown Automotive 998710K Steering Shaft Coupling Kit - Enhance Steering Performance by Chris Beals

Revainrating 4 out of 5

All parts match the original spare parts fairly well, except for the .

I use this as a replacement for 85 CJ7. All parts fit very well with the original spare parts, except for the clip for the rubber boot. I think a yoke will fit but will keep an eye on it to see if it allows the boot to twist on the shaft which could cause the boot to snap. The clutch housing fits well with the input shaft on the steering box, making it easy to assemble. There was some kind of light coating on the clutch housing that looked almost like old grease/oil. Perhaps it is used as a preservative. I carefully examined the case for signs of wear, but couldn't find anything out of the ordinary. Wipe inside and outside before lubrication and assembly. I disconnected my steering shaft to make it easier to reinstall on the jeep. It also allows me to attach the rubber boot to the bottom of the stock without slipping it over the cross pin at the end of the bottom section (I read a few reviews about the boot split when trying to install it). .

Pros
  • Power steering
Cons
  • Some trouble
