I ordered this carpet for our office. It had a slight smell to begin with, so we left it in the garage turning the gas off for a week until we stopped smelling it. It's just normal quality. Maybe it's better outside. It feels a little stiff on the inside, isn't too thick, and the underside feels scratchy. We have it in a room with old wooden floors, I actually ordered it to hide the scratches on the floor. I would think twice before laying it on our renovated hardwood floors as the underside is not very smooth. We had to place heavy objects on some of the edges to keep them flat. The color and design are nice and neutral. It's fine for the office and will probably work outside as well, but it's not a quality I'd want to use in a more prominent part of the house like my living room, unless I have lots of kids or pets and don't need it for anything very strong.
