1996 XJ Direct Fit STOP THIS DIRT!

I bought this to replace the rattle in my 1996 Jeep XJ. It was a great fit, I had to replace my (bottom) O2 sensor, my old one just didn't work after the transfer. I used a cutting wheel and torch to replace mine, also quick and easy with new clamps (I had rusty ones). You contaminate it with something - then the check engine light may or may not come on immediately. You must complete 2 full driving cycles before you can relax and have a beer! This should involve a short freeway drive at a constant speed for a few minutes. THIS ALSO APPLIES TO LIGHT OUT! If the bulb was on prior to the replacement and you replaced the cat and O2 sensor and the bulb is still on (unless you use a code reader to clear the code) then you will need to complete two consecutive full drive cycles to get the code code and check the engine. The light will go out (assuming your original code was a downstream sensor, etc.). This should involve a short freeway drive at constant speed/rpm, then swerve somewhere and stop, shut off the engine, then: DO IT AGAIN. The next time you start your car and there is no problem, the code will clear itself. If your driving style is not within parameters to run the O2 monitors the light will not extinguish (do your own research etc as far as I understand). Hope this helps cat /sensor when all they had to do was DRIVE. Do yourself a favor and buy a new O2 sensor. It's more than likely that the old one will be erased if you try to remove it, or won't read properly if you pull it out. It costs $30 and saves a lot of time because you don't have to order it after you install the cat and have a hole you can't fill because the old one won't come out. Hope this was helpful, good luck!
