Review on πŸ“ Komelon SL2812 Self Power Tape Measure - 12 Foot Reach by John Springer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Once you've tried Self Lock, you won't want to go back.

ProsSelf locking mechanism (which is amazing) - can be operated with one hand. The nylon coated blade is more durable and less likely to cut your hand. The rubber handle is comfortable and easy to hold. only (most bands are also single sided) No dual imperial/metric units. I originally bought this tape measure thinking self lock might be useful but probably overpriced. What a surprise. It was very helpful. It is no longer necessary to fix the position of the tape manually every time it is pulled out. When the band is attached to my belt, it can also be operated with one hand. A rubber grip surrounds and protects the body, making it comfortable and easy to use. The rubber is also on the hole to act as a buffer protecting it from rewind forces. Pressing and holding the button will rewind the tape, although I'd recommend manually rewinding the tape gradually. The nylon coated blade will not cut your fingers. The green accents are interesting, they are different from all the other yellow tape measures. 5/8 inch. The width of the band allows it to be light and compact. However, the short-width band begins to sag at 3 feet and collapses at 5.5 feet. Komelon offers 0.75" and 1" wide straps with their longer straps if needed. The measurements are only printed on one side in case someone gets into a situation where they need the other side, although this is intentionally single sided tape so it's not a real disadvantage. Too bad the Komelon Self Lock series doesn't have dual imperial/metric units. This doubles their benefit. The self-lock mechanism makes this an excellent tape measure and a pleasure to use. I also have a basic non-locking Comelon with imperial/metric units and keep coming back to it even though there are no metric units. Now that I've been spoiled by Self Lock, I don't think I'll ever go back to the manual tape measure.
