Most people talk about using them as a splitter. It works for that, but I really like using them as a blender. There are two scenarios I like to use them in: 1) My work is computer related. I like to control the audio from my phone but still have the audio from my computer. I leave it on my desk, connected to my computer, and then just plug in my phone when I get to work. 2) I enjoy listening to podcasts during long gaming sessions, unless the game is story-heavy (especially grinding RPGs). I can connect my phone while connecting to PS4 controller and get both sounds. This is a passive mixer, meaning you cannot control the audio mix from the device. For example, when the in-game audio is low but the podcast is too loud. However, most consumer devices have controls that you can use. So in the scenario I just gave you can turn off the phone on your smartphone playing the podcast and the PS4 (and Switch) have the controller volume control. I have multiple devices just for convenience. . I leave the extra in my work bag and one on my bedside table. I haven't broken any of them yet.
