I have a 3 year old who is sometimes afraid of adult public toilets, especially those with an automatic flush. So I put her in the cubicle, laid out the potty bag first and put a pee pad on the floor to keep her portable potty clean. To prevent it from flushing automatically in a public restroom, I cover the sensor with tape so she won't be scared. Love the little pot. It's durable but takes a little getting used to when it comes to setting it up in an emergency. But it was a great practice toilet and I would recommend it to anyone. It's easy to carry in your car, stroller, diaper bag, large bag or backpack. I just put it in a separate eco-friendly bag and camouflaged it from the rest of the world.
