I have read the reviews, especially the one-star reviews. It amazes me that adults don't remember to wash the clothes they wear, the glasses and plates they eat and drink from. The biggest complaint was the taste of the chemical component due to the devices not being cleaned properly before use. I just used a pinch of morning dish soap and warm water, I rinsed for 1 minute, then connected the hose and drained the water through the hose. I closed the valve at the end to test it and flushed with soapy water in the hose for 1 minute. I emptied the bag and rinsed it twice with cold water. I sterilized the mouthpiece with rubbing alcohol and placed some freshly cut lemon and lime wedges in a full bag of cold water. Rinse and drain for 2 minutes. I hung everything out to dry and put paper towels in a bag to soak up the moisture. Make sure it is completely dry before putting the water bag back in your backpack. Took less than 30 minutes. Stop blaming manufacturers for your incompetence and laziness. This is a darn good product and if you take the time to look after your gear, it will show.
