I think this stand is ideal for a phone, with a lock in the vertical position. The clip has holes on each side to allow the charging cable to be routed to the device's charging port. The weighted base of this stand is a major advantage over a typical phone stand. Another advantage is the articulated arm and the positioning options. This makes it very convenient to place on a bedside table, next to a bed, or on a desk for workspace. The weighted base keeps it in place, while every phone stand I've ever had will move the phone or slide it out of position, even with a slight accidental squeeze. I recommend this stand for use with your phone if that's what you're looking for. I'm sure it works well with tablets too.
