After the keys were laser cut and programmed by a locksmith, the key worked as advertised. The locksmith charged us $25. I didn't want to spend $50 on both so I have an extra form in case I need it. I tried to get an offer from the dealer but they wouldn't give me one. Assuming they know that if you ask you probably have a plan B and know their prices will be higher. Programming is easy, there are videos on the net, but the car owner does it. The process only works if you have a good key, otherwise you will have to go to the dealer. What you do is put a known working key in the ignition and turn it on, but won't start the truck. After all the initialization indicators come on, remove the key and do the same with the new key. It must be programmed at this point.
