If you've never detangled icicles, do a little test now. Patience. Locate the top edge of the lights and carefully untangle them. I did this in my living room before trying to hang them outside. Once I lined them up, I held the top edge of the light and assembled them accordion style. My staircase has a platform so turning on the light by myself was pretty easy. (I'm 70 years old.) If you buy more than one set and need to connect, again be patient. This style of connector isn't my favorite, but not bad once you get the hang of it. What I really like is that these lights have a remote control and are on a thin almost transparent material. It is also good that there are several functions.
