This PERFECT PIECING SEAM GUIDE is not what I expected. I was expecting it to be something that would stick (essentially forever) to the sewing machine to aid in a perfect 1/4 inch seam. However, it is not sticky. It's probably 1/8" thick and fairly stiff. It has a scribed line at the calibrated 1/4" mark, as well as a hole large enough for a machine needle to fit through and locate at the 1/4" -Line cuts. I read the instructions and used them as directed and found that 1/4" ran right over the edge of the feed teeth on my machine. No wonder I was never able to get a clean 1/4" seam. So I decided to inspect all of my sewing feet to see where the 1/4" is on each foot. Even my branded 1/4" guide foot was wrong. In fact, only 2 of the presser feet that came with my machine (a fairly expensive machine) had a true 1/4" and that was only when the needle was moved off center. Now I've made a note of which paws work, which don't, and where the true 1/4" is on everything. While the device wasn't what I expected, it's useful and I expect it will change the way I sew. I noticed that you can buy multiple, but I don't see why you would need more than one unless you're giving away additional items or maybe teaching a class.
