Review on πŸ”§ Dorman 911-102 Throttle Body Motor for Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury Models by Ronnie Staver

Revainrating 4 out of 5

So far so good - fuel system

This may have finally solved my 2005 expedition car's brake problem. I replaced the throttle position sensor over a year ago and the pedal a month ago (anyone need a pedal?). I finally read the codes and I had open and closed codes posted (and a forced idle message). I was looking for a full throttle case for over $230 and then came across this option. Since I replaced the TPS I thought it might be worth a try. Local sellers also sell this but at a higher price - I was willing to wait a few days for delivery. The throttle body is fairly easy to remove and replace - 4 bolts on the air box and four on the throttle body plus a couple of connectors. It helps being tall to reach back that far. The instructions were minimal and the quality of the photocopy made the small pictures difficult to decipher. I took some photos, I'll try to post them later. To remove the spring access cover simply push from the back, do not try to bend the small tabs. Remove old assembly - be careful of light spring tension. Fit the new assembly - ensure exact alignment. Check for free movement of the throttle - you will feel the motor/reduction gear moving, but it should be smooth. I had some trouble at this point and had to repeat until I was happy. Use the tool provided to tighten the spring (3/4 turn counter-clockwise - ensure both tabs engage). Check the throttle again for smooth operation and strong return to idle. Some idle play is normal.

Pros
  • delivery was very quick
Cons
  • protection
