Review on TRENDnet Wireless Gigabit Pre Encrypted TEW 812DRU by Alex Webster

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good product. Feel good

Great product. Great feeling in hand. Supports Comcast's "Blast Speed" perfectly when paired with my ARRIS Surfboard SB6190, great product if you have 4 other roommates. I can get 198Mbps from 5GHz at 5ft (same speed I would get from hardwired to modem, tested via speedtest.net; 100Mbps on another flight) and the range is long enough to Gain access to our entire townhouse (approximately 1200 square feet). .ft.). As for 2.4 GHz, I'm surprised I'm still getting a signal from my mailbox that's about 100 feet (23 Mbps) but peaks at 68 Mbps when I'm within flight distance of the router. at the same speed as when you are within 5 feet of him. I purchased a refurbished router, which may differ from new or other refurbished routers. Setup was easy. It took about 8 minutes from plugging in the power cord, setting up a new admin password and wireless network name/password to rebooting. It's really easy with the included software. However, you may want to keep the plastic wrap on the router as it contains login instructions that are unique to each router. in a firmware upgrade to DD-WRT, but first I need to weigh the pros and cons. But if you are a regular user just looking for "plug and play" then this router is perfect. *This review will be updated after the switch to DD-WRT software* We also have another bridged router that acts as a repeater for online gaming and works like a charm. No downtime or buffering. When the power is off, the worst case restart takes about 30 seconds, the fastest boot time is about 10 seconds. System and 1 to an unmanaged gigabit switch (Trendnet TEG-S5G) connected to 2 consoles and 2 gaming PCs, all connected via Category 5 ultra thin/flat ethernet cable and it works great. All devices get maximum zero-latency speeds (195 Mbps using all wired devices), demonstrating the router's ability to seamlessly distribute information and prioritize requests. We also use a USB 3.0 port connected to a managed hub and then to 2 printers, allowing us to print both wired and wirelessly. If your printer supports WPS printing, that will work too (great for lazy people). This is incredibly cheap compared to other AC1750 routers. I looked for routers from other well-known brands and found that they had the best reviews and surpassed them, best value for money and won awards from various consumer reports. Compared to $100 routers, this product is worth the money, especially when it costs less than $55 (rebuild price). Great product for what we need in our family. Can be upgraded once Internet speeds in excess of 300Mbps are available to consumers at a reasonable price, but until then I see the opportunity to use this product for many years.
