TEW-812DRU v2.1 is ideal for DD-WRT

If you don't know what DD-WRT is, this review is not for you. Router for DD-WRT, then read on. First, it's not the best router in the world. It is based on the Broadcom chipset and the ac1750 (450Mbps at 2.4GHz and 1300Mbps at 5GHz) works great. The features are great, but the memory in this particular router is insanely small at 64MB. My main router is a TrendNet TEW-824DRU with dd-wrt. This router has 256MB, a big difference. Not sure why TrendNet keeps a lower spec router in production and…

Poor performance and customer support

I have delayed writing a review of this product as it has already been thoroughly reviewed and I doubted my five cents would add anything to the conversation. However, I feel obligated to caution others against purchasing TRENDnet products. I've been buying TRENDnet for about 15 years now and have been happy until recently. In the past they have made products at a great price and have a good track record. Something has changed. They don't seem to pay much attention to their firmware releases…

I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. that's cool!

I bought this budget router from Revain for $35 almost 4 years ago and wasn't expecting much. I only wanted dual band 5 GHz WiFi because that was the norm back in 2014. To my surprise, this router worked quite well! I even moved 2 years ago and it was as easy as plugging in a router in my new home and voila it worked! Now it covers an area of 1700 square meters. feet with this single router and even get video from my CCTV camera from my garage! Set up was pretty easy too! There was an easy mode

No problem - no questions.

I've only had the TRENDnet router a few weeks so I can't speak to long term reliability. However, I had no problem installing or configuring the router for both 2.5GHz and 5GHz. I also set up a guest account, which works great. Non-scientific experiments show better range than my old Cisco/Lynksys router. Something like a router should be reliable and just plain boring, which in this case it was. I see that many reviewers have had serious problems with their routers. I wonder if some of these…

So far so good in the area of computers and accessories

So far so good. The setup was pretty reliable, so naturally this network engineer forgot to set the ethernet adapter to DHCP and racked his brains for 10 minutes trying to figure out why he couldn't access it. Once this was fixed, reconfiguration for my preferred SSID and other settings was very easy. Port forwarding for my mail and web server worked as expected, as did port address translation for several other services I need to access remotely. ranch) and usable signal on all corners of my…

Wow - big difference from the old router!

I had an old DLink router that ended up not being enough for my household needs, so I started looking for good routers that were affordable given how advanced the technology was. This wireless router topped a few online reviews (including CNet+PC Mag) and what struck me was the wealth of features it had for the price. Now I have to say - while I'm a seasoned IT professional myself, most of the key features that the average person setting up Wi-Fi at home needs or uses are literally just a push…

Good product. Feel good

Great product. Great feeling in hand. Supports Comcast's "Blast Speed" perfectly when paired with my ARRIS Surfboard SB6190, great product if you have 4 other roommates. I can get 198Mbps from 5GHz at 5ft (same speed I would get from hardwired to modem, tested via speedtest.net; 100Mbps on another flight) and the range is long enough to Gain access to our entire townhouse (approximately 1200 square feet). .ft.). As for 2.4 GHz, I'm surprised I'm still getting a signal from my mailbox that's…

definitely a power user/geek router

First let me say that you will see a lot of conflicting opinions about this router as the firmware is very complex for a typical consumer router. However, this is why it will be LOVED by power users and geeks alike. It also flashes with DD-WRT if you want even more features than what comes on it. For the current price, SPECIALLY refurbished, this router is an absolute steal. The physical design of the router itself leaves little to be desired. The plastic feels very cheap, and there are no…
