Review on Merrell Kids Unisex MQM Flex Low: The Ultimate Hiking Shoe for Little Kid/Big Kid Adventurers by Jerome Godwin

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Appearances are deceptive

Nice shoes at first glance. I bought this particular style for my 8 year old as he doesn't like shoes with laces. Bought from a trusted brand, I have owned many Merrells myself over the years. The poor rating is due to the poor design of the shoe's tongue, which slips off during use. There is no way to prevent this as elastic laces do not have a pulley system to tighten and secure them. Not the best idea to wear these shoes with active kids, which I know must be very uncomfortable. Otherwise the quality of the shoes is very good and the price would have been acceptable if it weren't for this flaw.

Pros
  • These shoes are difficult to put on. Once on, fits well and stays. The fit is true to size and they are durable.
Cons
  • not bad; albeit a little thin
