Review on πŸ’‘ Enhance and Extend Your Electrical Connections with Thomas Betts B1EXT CRD Elec Extender by Dave Rasic

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great when used as directed

If the distance from the box to the outside wall is less than 1/4 inch, this extension will not sit flush with the wall. See photos 1 and 2. The part where the screw holes are is 1/4" deep. This product is designed to fill the gap in a properly installed box. If you see the manufacturer's promotional materials and videos, it is located the power strip in a "perfect world". The box extension BE1EXT-CRD can also fix other defects, for example if the wall is cut a little more than the box. The BE1EXT-CRD is quite rigid and can have problems in a pre-installed Plastic box bent during installation. If this extension fits I would use it first. I bought the BE1EXT-CRD to fix security bugs and possibly other defects caused by the idiot who installed the installed boxes and sockets in my house. I will replace all sockets and clean the wiring in the boxes. So far, BE1EXT-CRD is working well. A big plus is d he BE1EXT-CRD can be installed without unwiring most existing outlets or switches. I was able to do this by unscrewing the outlet, pulling it out, and running an extension cord over the outlet. A thick GFCI or other device may need to remove the wires first. By the way, this Thomas & Betts is the same product as the Carlon BE1EXT-CRD. Both belong to the same company. See attached photos. β€’ Photos 1 and 2 show why the gap is at least 1/4 inch. β€’ Photo 3 shows how my socket is recessed because the box is not flush. β€’ Photo 4 shows the condition of my box with the old outlet installed. β€’ Photo 5 shows the BE1EXT-CRD installed without an outlet. β€’ Photo 6 shows the BE1EXT-CRD installed with a new socket. β€’ Photo 7 shows that the socket is now correctly installed with the cover.
