If there is any change in the performance of this unit I will update this review. I just received the unit today to replace my Comcast modem and router combo as I have (and use) an Apple Airport Extreme router. It was very easy. I just unplugged the old modem, plugged in the new one, and then called tech support (Comcast) as I needed to give them my MAC address. A few minutes later they signaled my new modem and I saw the lights flicker and all was fine. Then I connected my Airport Extreme. I couldn't connect to my Wi-Fi network so I rebooted my Airport Extreme after all else failed and then it worked like a champ. Interesting to note; I ran half a dozen speed tests with an old Comcast-supplied modem/router and got between 47 and 51 Mbps. When I ran the same speed test with this new modem, I got 56-58Mbps so far. I saved about $20 by purchasing a refurbished unit (I paid about $44 for it). So now I can save the $10 a month Comcast charges me to rent their modem. I hope the little guy keeps going. So far, so good!
