Migraine inducing flickering, pointless settings

EDIT: After further investigation decided to downgrade to 1 star. These lamps are *extremely* poor quality. They use the same technology as Tuya lamps and many others (although the visual quality of the single Tuya lamp I've had before is significantly better). I originally left this at 2 stars in the hope that maybe this bulb is just defective. Unfortunately shortly after I received 5 other bulbs from different brands, 2 of which were as awful as this Cree and turned out to be Tuya bulbs. After I wrote the first review, I contacted the company using the "Contact Us" link. I did not get an answer. First Review ---- I have several other brands of color changing bulbs, from Chinese white label brands with no English to some excellent (but horribly expensive) LIFX and Hue bulbs. Without a doubt, this lightbulb is the worst of them all. It is actually unusable, I will send it back and sincerely hope that it is just defective. There was literally nothing I didn't like about using this bulb: it took 5 attempts to pair. It warns you to make sure it's on a 2.4GHz network, but I have to use hotspots, both of which only get a reasonable reading where the lightbulb is. Unfortunately there was *no* signal a little further on as far as the lightbulb was concerned. I connected my phone to a nearby hotspot but it *still* failed. It was merged when I did a "manual" connection, which worked *just like* the non-manual method. This bulb at 1% is equivalent to *every other bulb I have* at 50% meaning each color. *much* easier than it should be. And it flickers at *all* brightness settings. It's like a strobe light - if there's no light in the room other than this bulb lit at 100%, it will trigger a migraine after a few minutes. It's a *cheap* lightbulb, I get it. I wasn't expecting a perfect match with LIFX/other bulbs - my hues/others don't match exactly, but these colors are *so far away* that they can't be used in the same room; It's impossible to produce more than 50% of the color space that all other lamps can easily handle, including two less expensive ones. I would still hold it if I could stand the light for more than a few minutes. But hey, he's light.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Big and bulky
