This article practically defines value for money. Connected to my ThinkPad, it gives me great sound *and* connectivity to my mouse, external hard drive, and phone. I haven't tried connecting a USB power adapter to it yet; I may do this at some point in the future if I need to run a CD drive, for example, but it certainly works fine with regular devices. A tiny white LED indicates that the device is working. All of this costs less than $20. The only thing I would change is to make the cable longer, but that's easily fixed with any USB 3.0 extension cable.
