Construction problem that could damage the kayak. The screw that holds the two pieces together does not fit fully into the case as it is a quarter inch too long. Also, the body of the support itself protrudes a bit, giving you a 3/8 inch protrusion in two places (on both posts) where the kayak should rest. This puts pressure on a small spot and flexes the material and under the right circumstances can penetrate your boat. I couldn't contact the seller. My solution was to tilt the kayak forward and use the elastic cords attached to the grommets in the rafters to ensure it stays forward. I think I can edit the bolts to fit the hull, but I've still come across putting some sort of padding material on the hinge to allow the kayak to rest its back on the racks as intended. These racks must be a non-articulating unit. I wouldn't buy them again but I'll try to get them working.
