Due to weak details critical to design, this item was purchased after researching options recommended for seniors who may have difficulty using traditional spice grinders required arm strength/rotation. What we like is that the battery life is smooth, the roughness setting works great, and the light is a nice bonus. What we don't like is the mechanism that separates the motor from the grinder is pressure based and requires twisting force to unlock to fill and replace the batteries (6 x AAA). I had to find someone to unlock it for me. Because it is pressure based, it may relax after some use. I would have sent it away for that, but unfortunately I decided to put the batteries in and test the operation before making my final decision. Motor and batteries are held by two tiny clips, which are also only held in place by pressure. You use a thin tip to move the clip and press down to release pressure on the clip to free the motor. The problem is 1) the clip won't stay in the "open" position and if you don't notice it has moved you will break the clip when you reinstall the motor because 2) the tiny clip is made of very thin plastic exists! Bad, bad design and material. Luckily 1 clip hasn't broken and my motor isn't held securely in place yet. Unfortunately the windmill is now in use and broken and cannot be returned for a refund.
