The best and worst hole punch on the market

Best of its kind and terrible. I make 2 inch buttons professionally and need a precision hole punch on my assembly line. Over the years I have tried every brand available and have found that they are all unnecessary. EK Tools seems to be the best, but 50% of the time the product fails on the first hit and needs to be replaced. The rest begin to fail after about a dozen hits. You start out with a good crush notch, but soon the head alignment becomes shaky, the cutting edge becomes soft, the paper tears, and the punch gets stuck. At this point, the notches are no longer a full circle, and almost any stamp can be scraped off with scissors anyway. And that's the best scenario. Because the die is misaligned, it sometimes jams so badly that the cutting edge is damaged too badly to work. I disassembled this product and found that the main problem is that the two metal parts ie the hole and the punch are connected only by the springs inside. They don't move in a fixed path. This means that the hitting accuracy depends on the vibration accuracy of the plastic body. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Unfortunately this is the best you will find.

Pros
  • Hole punch
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly
