Review on ๐ŸŠ Men's Synergy Endorphin Full Sleeve Smoothskin Neoprene: The Perfect Triathlon Wetsuit for Open Water Swimming and Ironman Competitions by Troy Early

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A full wetsuit is better than a half

I have both this unitard and the half version (sleeveless and mid-thigh legs). If I could do it again, I would just get this full version. At first I thought half would be a good idea because it's easier and cheaper to get in and out and hands free and I really feel like swimming in the ice water. But being able to swim in colder water is actually great. Even in a full suit, I don't notice any significant limitations in arm movement (I don't care every second, I'm a hobby swimmer, not a racing driver). There is more buoyancy and swimming is surprisingly easy. Getting in and out of a full suit is really harder than a half suit, but I've gotten used to it. I wear thin woolen gloves on my hands and thin socks on my feet while putting them on to avoid damaging my fingernails and toenails, and make sure to draw my shins a little over my ankles before doing anything else. The reason a full suit is preferred over a half suit is because of its versatility. Between 64F and 67F the half suit is perfect for the conditions but that's all she wrote. Really a good thing and under 60 it becomes a must. I was amazed at the difference that the arms and legs were covered and was surprised to find that I could easily swim in the high 50s with a neoprene cap but no booties and no gloves. Five minutes in my swim, I'm fine and can easily swim 20 minutes. Swimming for 30 minutes would also be ok. Also, I might need booties and gloves. In the future, I'll probably swim "naked" until the water temperature hits 66 degrees, and then I'll go in a full suit and probably not bother with a mid-length torso. The M2 fits perfectly (nice and snug, but I can put it on without help). My only complaint is that the velcro that secures the neck sometimes gets caught on the inside of the wetsuit when I put it on or take it off, which I don't think is a good thing as the velcro causes minor damage to the inside. fabric when you take it off. So now I'm careful. I'm not sure if there's a design solution for this, so I'm not deducting a star. Endorphin offers a good combination of protection and flexibility for me. I don't have any other brands to compare but I'm impressed with the technology. Due to the buoyancy in the neoprene suit, I swim a little faster. Highly recommended if you want to extend your bathing season to 55 degree water. I also have a lifeline that I attach to my ankle with two Velcro straps to keep your jeans out of gear on the bike). Also highly recommended: Boats can see you and you can rest on it and it doesn't really bother you when you're racing and it's basically indestructible: the Kiefer lifeguard can. Happy (and safe) sailing and please click 'helpful' if this review was helpful to you (so others can see it).
