Review on Nikon AF DX NIKKOR 10.5mm f/2.8G ED Fixed Zoom Fisheye Lens - Auto Focus for Nikon DSLR Cameras by Bambang Jatmiko ᠌

Great value for the money, definitely recommended!

This is the optimal lens for shooting spherical panoramas with a cropped sensor: it gives a wide angle of view while maintaining high detail (golden mean). You can also take traditional photos. If you correctly compose the frame, then the distortion will not be so noticeable. Shoot in RAW and that's it! We correct HA and vignetting there. I chose between him and a similar Sigma. As a result, I preferred Nikon, which I do not regret. However, if you have the opportunity to conduct a full-scale comparison of them - it's better to do it. In general, all of the above shortcomings are conditional, because. you need to understand what the situation of competitors. I would like to put the maximum marks, but I will refrain.

Pros
  • Standard advantages for fish: large depth of field, aperture, detail. This is the first fish for CROP. I got up on the old D200 like a native.
Cons
  • Not resistant to glare. If the sun is shining brightly and you want to shoot the sky, glare is almost inevitable. I shoot 360gr panoramas (including the sky) and I have enough glare with it. Monstrous HA at the edges of the frame, where distortion is maximum. Strong vignetting. Very noisy. It focuses quickly, but there is no ultrasonic motor (as in some Sigmas). Could have been cheaper, but it's a Nikon.
