Review on Nikon AF DX NIKKOR 10.5mm f/2.8G ED Fixed Zoom Fisheye Lens - Auto Focus for Nikon DSLR Cameras by Hemant Hemant ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Valuable purchase, nothing but pluses!

That's where I used to be?! How was it possible to shoot on the miserable Samyang 8mm (folk fish - cheap and cheerful), and even changing 4 copies in search of the least soapy and comatose! Nikon is Nikon - this small but brutal "plug" with a record MDF 2cm simply breaks the template with its sharpness and the ability to shoot unique macro angles. Its dimensions on the Sony NEX camera allow you to put it inside many interesting places - for example, a computer system unit, a cabinet showcase, inside a grand piano, a piano - in short, where a camera with larger optics will not physically fit. For comparison - Samyang 8mm MDF 30cm, it is large and wide - such tricks are not possible with it. This is a Must have fish for all croppers - but in full frame it is also not bad in crop mode 1.5 on D8XX It is not clear why Nikon has not yet released an ated version from 2.8. This lens, years later, became available at a flea market at prices up to 15 thousand Photos taken by me on Sony NEX 3N and a3500 via K&F Nikon G-NEX adapter

Pros
  • 1) Phenomenal sharpness and micro-detail for fisheye. It rings in the center already from 2.8 - in focus it collects light to a point without any signs of coma or decentering, like the poor Samyang 8mm 2) Very nice film color rendering especially on ancient CCDs 3) The presence of autofocus, which is still accurate and fast 4) Super compact - in combination with the Nikon D40, this is the most compact mirror fisheye combination possible 5) Record-breaking small MDF for fish! TWO CM from the front lens to the object ! This allows you to shoot incredible macro still lifes at close range! This is really a full-fledged macro-fish. 6) High build quality - everything is at the level of the professional Nikkor 2.8G series
Cons
  • 1) Very strong chromatic aberrations, especially around the periphery - do not disappear until F11. Samyang does not have them at all from 5.6 in the center and 11 along the edges - all the same, the old optics betray themselves. 2) Stupid cover made of plastic that scratches the lens hood 3) The nature of the distortion is for an amateur - it is very different from Samyang, it fills up the lines more strongly and twists the bokeh 4) Insane price 775 USD at the time of the announcement. But now what prevents it from being bought for 12-17 thousand on the Bu market ?
