I read in a review of this unit or another very similar unit that it smoked immediately when used with a 24vdc input. I can confirm that this is indeed the case, release magical smoke instantly. However, it still works. The input filter/smoothing capacitor blows up and takes the track onto the power rail, but the voltage regulation function works.
