Is it suitable for "general " carpet cleaning? Fur.

I think it should work on carpets, but it's not as effective as an aerosol cleaner with a microfiber cloth. Cloths are not damp enough to remove non-stain carpet stains. You will need several of these to deal with a simple spill. As for spots? Forget it. You're going to need something stronger.
