Not protected against water and urine!
It's soft and can be washed as often as you like. BUT, I bought it because my old dog had an accident on our beloved chaise longue. I smelled urine and realized it was coming from the sun lounger. This is not water or urine proof! The liquid seeps through the lid and into your furniture. Now I had to buy a new sun lounger because the cover wasn't waterproof!
