Photographic paper is a very nice finish. As a LONG TIME Canon printer user I would definitely prefer the old clear cartridges. I no longer see that there is almost a quarter of a tank left when the "Replace me" light comes on and the beeps start. I became a Canon user not only for the quality but also for the potential ink cost savings. I am sure that is no longer the case. Once this printer starts to wear out, I definitely plan to explore other brands. When I last changed the ink in my current printer, I wish the 2 black "text" cartridges were included. But I think it would actually be better to replace them individually, especially since they run out at different times and I don't want to be stuck with extra unused ink when/when the printer stops working.
