I have a lot of experience with Cold Brew Coffee, having run a coffee shop for many years. I like the "toddy" system we used for cold brew, but it puts a lot of weight on the top of the carafe, which can easily tip over. I had to pour out about half of the wet coffee grounds to get the brew bag out. This problem would be solved if they used a wide-mouth jar instead of the narrow-mouth jar that comes with it. About the spoon. It's just an added value and doesn't really add to the purchase. The shovel worked better for me. I think it's a little over the price. You can easily make your own kit by sewing a small pouch out of unbleached organic fabric. Tin cans are cheap. The handy lid that came with this set is nice but superfluous. You don't need a spoon. The cold brew was very good and I was able to make a very strong concentrate. I enjoyed reading the e-book. They clearly explain different ways of preparing a cold drink. The website is well done, almost worth the price of the kit.
