I think it's almost necessary to remove the top cover of the frame (I had to drill out the plastic clips as they come loose when "unscrewing" "just twisted"), unscrewed the vacuum pump and tied the zip in the side and enlarged the bottom hole on the driver's side. All of these are listed as optional in the included instructions, but on a 2017 model I don't think that this is possible without all three. The 1" template included with the instructions is just a general idea of what to do. It would be nice if they provided an actual template or something, but they don't. Don't call as I suspect the pattern will not match every year as that is 10 years worth of jeeps I started by measuring the actual receiver and making a hole specifically for this, then I made the support brackets and just put it on and off and marked it with a marker while looking at it. Used a dremel but it cuts. At first I tried to get it pretty clean but towards the end I didn't care and just left it rough thinking it was low enough that you wouldn't really see it unless you crawl under it and yourself would look at my hackwork . I haven't pulled the Jeep out yet, nor have I pulled anything from the winch that mounts to my cradle, but this receiver seems very well built.
