Review on RXL SL Handlebars Mountain Bicycle by Keith Maynard

So far, so good! on handlebars, steerers and stems

I have these handlebars 720mm long. It replaced my 610 carbon handlebars that lasted me for 15 years. I was a bit skeptical because of the price, but I really wanted a wider handlebar, especially on the track. The bar arrived well packaged with plenty of bubble wrap. But it was! No instructions. Nothing to corroborate the length and varying degrees of lift and momentum. And, more importantly, THE TORQUE LIMITS FOR TIGHTENING THE ROD. I had to go back to the website for this information. It would be nice to have that information with the bar. The rod came with no scratches or stains. It was also a bit thicker than my old one judging by the ends of the bar. The carbon fabric patterns look very consistent with no voids noted. The handlebar clamp area is textured, but I still used carbon paste on all clamp points. I've been on a few horseback rides and so far so good. No strange noises or visible cracks. I like the 720 length. I feel better, especially on faster descents. I only notice a slight bend, but hardly at all. That's what I expect from a carbon rod. My old Easton carbon rod was about the same. Note: My bike is a hardtail aluminum frame with a free-moving Rock Shox fork. I'm 51 and have a family so I stay away from silly high risk emergencies. No big leaps in the air. Although I like to ride the technical singletrack as fast as possible. This is a Chinese mass product. Does that mean it's shit? no But some shit will fail because the quality control might not be as good as it is in the US. I have friends who spent a lot more on "tall" carbon bars that broke within a year. It is, just be careful not to over-tighten the clamps.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
